Duffy's New Remix

I've been a long time Duffy fan (since before she was a huge hit), and Mercy is without a doubt my favorite song by her...I did listen to it 70+ times in less than a week when it first was available on Zune Marketplace.
Why am I blabbing on about how much I like her and her music?
Well, I just downloaded her new remix of Mercy off of iTunes. At first I was like, "Oh no! They've ruined Mercy!" But after listening to it, I have to say it's not all that bad. I still like the original the most, but the remix with The Game wasn't half bad. If you havn't listened to it yet, then go download it off of iTunes or whatever music downloading source you...choose.

Came across this video on YouTube after reading briefly about it on someone's blog. IBM actually thought of a way to shop at a store and never have to wait in line. Why? because there is no cashier! Sound crazy? Well, I think it sounds like the way our world is going. You just walk out the door with everything in your cart (or hands) and a security system scans everything, then automatically bills your bank account (or credit card). Kinda like the the recent credit card EasyPay on steroids. All I have to say about this is: when?

Operation Toad Rescue

It's summer (almost) in New York, and that means only one thing; thousands upon thousands of tent caterpillars infesting the towns and forests. I figured that if you can't beat em', make a YouTube series out of them. So I created the 2008 Tent Caterpillar Games with promo posters, logos and videos.

After the *beep *beep *beep warnings one day, I decided to film one of these thunderstorms. So, enjoy! And around 55 seconds into the vid there's a good shot of lightning...it was kinda too close...

Oil Tycoon Turns Green!?

Holy crap! This is what I like to see! Oil tycoon, T. Boone Pickens, is spending $10 billion on a 2,700 turbine wind farm. It will produce 4,000 megawatts of power (equivalent to 2 nuclear power plants). Pickens claims to be an enviormentalist...and guess what, HE IS! A once oil tycoon, he's realized how harmful natural gasses are to the enviorment. Is he in this wind power busniess for profit??? DUH! Who wouldn't be!?! As far as I'm concerned, as long as it's helping our enviornment and not costing us any more than natural gas power - let him make millions off it!

The farm will be in Texas, but will only be the beginning! Plans for wind and solar power are being developed to extend across the southwest from Texas to California.

AIGA Boston

AIGA held the Massaging Media 2 conference this past weekend at the World Trade Center in Boston. A couple of us from MV attended it...and...and it was a REALLY FREAKIN awesome time!

We kinda got lost at first because if "Emily" (our GPS system) but it ended up leading us to the right place. Veggie World in Cambridge was first. They have some awesome food (All vegan food). No, I'm not a vegetarian, but I do like the food, now that I've tried it. To sum up the weekend we kind of attended about half the keynotes and breakout sessions mostly because it was an educators conference and there were only 23 student there. So we went to the stuff that we could benefit from. Then we did a ton of exploring of Midtown Boston and surrounding areas. Overall, a really awesome time! Check out my photos on Facebook.

Leaking Windows

There's been a huge problem plaguing my dorm room (and many other peoples dorms). This problem is just in New Hall (that I know of) and consists of serveral leaky windows. Now, I've reported this problem over and over and nothing was done...at least that what it seemed like. After the lastest leak (April 1st) I was fed up. I posted a video on YouTube with a wonderful little commentary at the end. This leak isn't your normal dripping, its a stream of water, usually a gallon per rainstorm that floods the window and floor. I e-mailed the college and was enlightened on what more was going on. This problem is being pursued by the college at a vicious rate. But, students are not aware of this, all we know is the college is just throwing their hands up in the air and telling us "There's nothing we can do." But, I'm spreading the word that the college is doing something. Perhaps they NEED the help of the students. Should we get involved?

After hearing the entire story behind the leaky windows (and other New Hall issues), I posted a reply video explaining in detail and hoping that a student reassuring other students will help the tension ease...a bit. I'm not saying that we should just sit back and wait, but that we shouldn't blame the college. We should really be helping the college. Instead of ten people fighting to fix the problems in New Hall, we could have 500. Then the people that really screwed us over will pay for their poor work.

Northland Communications

Okay. So at MVCC we're behind on technology, especially when it comes to high speed internet. I think that every student will agree, (dorm students the most) when I say that the internet on campus SUCKS. Seriously, it gets so bad sometimes that you can't even load freakin' AIM Classic. Luckly, there hasn't been a campus-wide meltdown this year where the internet just crashes completely for hours upon hours...but back in 2006-2007, campus-wide internet crashes have happened numerous times. Why does all this happen? Why do we have shitty internet? Because MVCC wont get their heads out of their asses and realize ROADRUNNER through TIME WARNER CABLE is much FASTER! Northland Communications (the "Sams Club" brand of high speed internet) is slow, unreliable and plays the blame game when students call to complain about the slowness speed.

They claim that myspace, youtube and P2P programs like Limewire are the cause of the slow internet...really? Then why do you offer this "high speed" internet when you know that we use all those programs/websites constantly? Or the better question is, why does MVCC stick with Northland Communications and have to deal with complaining students when a simple solution is to get Roadrunner High Speed CABLE internet? Times have changed, people don't just use the internet to read text, we use it to communicate through audio, pictures and video. MVCC better do something quick (like switch internet providers) before they have a riot on their hands.

Sirsy Concert

So, Friday night a little band with big sound came to MVCC...I'm talking about Sirsy. This two person band is incredible! The songs are great, the energy never ended and I got the entire thing (with the help of Bill) on video. So, here's one of the songs that they sang called Folsom Prison Blues. Yeah, I know it's a Johnny Cash song, and they do write their own music (which is amazing!). But I'll be posting two more songs on my YouTube channel and they'll be original songs. So check it out!

Now, I have to get back to editing more footage from the concert.
